Piešťany, Day One. -- We arrived in this famous Slovakian spa town by mid-afternoon. We walked across the old, well-kept center; swam in the pool of our hotel; and ended up dining here too. Everyone fell into bed, tired and content. -- Piešťany has an illustrious past: Empress Elisabeth of Austria, Emperor Wilhelm II of Germany, and tenor Richard Tauber all came here for the waters. Tauber was cured of a bout of rheumatic disease in 1928. -- No rheumatic issues in our family (yet). Sarah and I aim to power out the kids and thereby keep them from fighting. Seven days in a row. You got to have goals in life.
