Piešťany, Day Seven. -- We have had the fog and the wet; we have had the sun and the bitterly cold; today it is heavy snowfall around zero degrees. Absolutely wonderful! We did a long walk along our familiar routes, punctuated frequently by visits to cafes and the fountain of youth. We’ve got another long swim and dinner ahead of us, but first we'll finish the bubbly from yesterday and read our books. -- Last night we all announced and wrote down our New Year’s resolutions. Here are mine: (1) continue Sarah’s and my Saturday-afternoon-and-evening adventures in the Viennese gastronomy-and-music scenes; (2) go swimming with the whole family at least once very fortnight; (3) take the kids to a professional basketball or football match; (4) apply for Austrian citizenship; (5) learn to play at least one of Beethoven’s *Bagatellen* to the point where I could dare to “perform” it in front of friends and family; (6) master the skill of baking cakes (esp. “medovnik”, the Russian “honey-cake”); and last, but not least, (7): keep making progress in “defeating” my chronic pain. Wish me luck!
