The divine Giuseppe. -- The Cleveland Orchestra under Franz Welser-Möst visited the Musikverein, and together with the choir of the “Gellschaft der Musikfreunde” and Genia Kühmeier (soprano), performed Mozart’s “Jupiter Symphony”, Richard Strauss’ “Vier letzte Lieder” and Verdi’s “Quattro pezzi sacri”. Kühmeier has a beautiful voice but it was drowned out by the orchestra. The Mozart piece was interpreted flawlessly. But the Verdi stood out for me: if I were ever to come close to being religious, it could push me over the edge.
